Bob Fitzsimmons vs Jim Jeffries

The fight for the world heavyweight championship between defending champion Bob Fitzsimmons and his challenger Jim Jeffries took place in Coney Island, New York on 9 June 1899. Jeffries won the fight by TKO in the eleventh round.

Bob Fitzsimmons (1863 – 1917) was a British middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight boxer. He was world heavyweight champion from 1897 to 1899. His record was 61 wins in 79 fights with 8 losses and 4 draws. Bob Fitzsimmons was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.

Jim Jeffries (1875 – 1953) was an American heavyweight boxer and world champion from 1899 to 1904. His record was 19 wins in 24 fights with 1 loss and 2 draws. Jim Jeffries was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.
