Joe Calzaghe is an Italian-Welsh super middleweight and light heavyweight boxer. He was the super middleweight world champion from 1997 to 2007, defending his WBO title a total of 19 times. He had won the WBO belt in 1997 by unanimous points decision against Chris Eubank. He also held all four super middleweight belts during his career. He won the IBF belt in 2006 against Jeff Lacy, and the WBC and WBA belts in 2007 in a unification bout against the Dane Mikkel Kessler. After his 2008 light heavyweight victory over Bernard Hopkins, Calzaghe simultaneously held Ring Magazine’s super middleweight and light heavyweight titles. His fighting record was 46 wins in 46 bouts. In 2009, Calzaghe finished his career undefeated. Joe Calzaghe was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2014.
