Lou Ambers

(1913-1995)

Lou Ambers was an American lightweight boxer and world champion from 1936 to 1938 and 1939 to 1940. In 1938, he lost his title against the legendary Henry Armstrong, whom he was able to defeat in the 1939 rematch. This was Armstrong’s only defeat from 1937 to 1940. His record was 89 wins in 104 bouts with 8 losses and 7 draws. Lou Ambers was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992.
