The WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO welterweight world championship bout was held on 29 July 2023 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Errol Spence Jr, known as “The Truth,” was the WBC, WBA and IBF title holder. The Ring ranked Spence Jr fourth in its P4P list. Terence “Bud” Crawford was the WBO title holder, and ranked third in The Ring’s P4P list. Both boxers were undefeated at the time. To that point, Spence Jr had a record of 28 wins in 28 fights, with no losses and no draw, and 22 wins by KO. Crawford had a boxing record of 39 wins in 39 fights, with no losses and no draw, and 30 wins by KO.
The fight itself was billed under the title, “Undefeated. Undisputed. Unprecedented.”
Crawford dominated and won the fight by a ninth-round technical knockout, knocking down Spence once in the second round and twice in the seventh to become the first undisputed welterweight champion since 2006 and the first male boxer in the four-belt era to claim undisputed championship status in two weight divisions.
The fight reportedly sold 700,000 PPV buys, generating over $59 million in revenue. It also generated over $20 million from ticket sales.
