Charley Fusari

Charley Fusari (1924 – 1985)

Italian-American boxer Charley Fusari was born in Italy and emigrated to the United States as a child with his family. He was a welterweight.

Fusari fought against the great boxers of his time, such as Rocky Graziano, Tony Janiro and Sugar Ray Robinson.

Fusari had two world title shots during his career. He lost a one-sided decision to defending welterweight world champion Sugar Ray Robinson on 9 August 1950 and then lost a split decision to Johnny Bratton for the vacant National Boxing Association World welterweight title on 14 March 1951 after Robinson had vacated the title after winning the world middleweight title from Jake LaMotta a month earlier.
