Don Cockell

(1928 – 1983)

Don Cockell was an English boxer. He was the European light-heavyweight champion from 1951 and 1952 and later became the British heavyweight champion.

On 16 May 1955, Cockell fought world champion Rocky Marciano at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco, contending for the world heavyweight championship. Cockell lost the fight by technical KO after nine rounds.

His boxing record shows 66 wins in 81 matches, with 14 losses and 1 draw.
